After receiving several "I'm going camping, so I'll be away from the forum for a few days" PM's from our membership, I thought that it would be a great idea to have a forum where members can post personal alerts on when and where they are going camping.
Who knows, you could very well be camping in the same campground as another member here and possibly never know it! Alternatively, if you see another member post that they plan on camping somewhere that you recognize as local to yourself, you could both arrange to meet each other and camp together.
Consider this a "Meet-Up" alert service.
All posts made here will be timed and after 30 days with no responses or no views by other members they will be automatically deleted. This system helps keep the forum from being cluttered with posts for camping trips that have already been completed.
Alternatively, members have the ability (only in this forum) to delete your own posts. This allows you to make a "We're going camping at XYZ campground this weekend!" post, but when you return home after the trip is complete, you can come back and delete the post yourself.
Members may feel free to make posts far in advance of planned trips, but remember to come back at least once every 30 days and at least "View" your own post so that it stays fresh.
Typical weekend trips can be posted a few weeks in advance, if you wish. More dedicated trips that some members take (such as a special trip that you have planned for many months) can be posts as far in advance as you wish, but please be mindful of the above requirement to keep you post fresh and avoid it being accidentally deleted.
Members are asked to post the LOCATION and DATE of your trip in the post title - for example:
"XYZ State Campground, NY, Friday May 9th-11th"
(Campground name, State/Province, Dates - start to finish)
Ensuring that the important details are in the post title will help others skip past threads that are too far away from themselves to be practical.
Any questions, please ask here.
